The real reason to dream big

Bruce Lee

“A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at. … The value of a big goal is not just in the achievement, but in the person you are forced to become to reach it.” ~ Bruce Lee

A large goal acts like a force pulling you upward.

Without one, it is easy to drift.

One television show becomes another.

One year becomes another.

Life becomes a series of distractions.

A worthwhile goal changes that.

It gives ordinary days a profound purpose.

It transforms sacrifice into investment.

The goal gives meaning to effort.

And effort gives meaning to life.

One day you will look back on your life.

The years will seem shorter than they feel today.

Much shorter.

And when that day comes, you may discover something surprising.

The things you achieved were wonderful.

But the person you became while pursuing them mattered even more.

So set the goal.

Make it ambitious.

Make it worthy of your life.

Not because reaching it is guaranteed.

But because the journey might transform you into someone your younger self would be proud to become.
