If you think about it, being positive is an act of altruism.
Not because you should pretend everything is perfect.
Because your attitude becomes part of the world everyone around you has to live in.
Your children feel it. Your friends feel it. The people you work with feel it.
The stranger you are kind to may carry it into the next conversation.
A good mood spreads.
So don’t be afraid to tell people you are glad they are here.
To compliment a stranger.
And when a day gives you a reason to enjoy it, take the invitation.
Which brings us to today’s lesson.
You cannot control the mood of the whole world.
But you can change the atmosphere around you.
And perhaps that is enough.
Make people feel better for having crossed your path.
Make your home somewhere people are happy to return to.
Make your presence a reminder that life, even with all its imperfections, is still worth enjoying.
You may not be able to make every day perfect.
But you can help make every day better.
