The decisions that quietly shape your life

Katharine Hepburn

Never make a decision from a state of fatigue, panic, or external pressure. Step away, find silence, and allow clarity to surface before you commit to something.” ~ Katharine Hepburn

What if you’re always making a choice: a choice to either build your dream life or your nightmare? And every choice takes you closer to one or the other?

Life is full of pressure. People want answers immediately. Everything seems urgent.

The world rarely seems to reward stillness.

Reflection.

But what if that’s exactly why we’re making bad decisions…

Our lives are built on decisions.

And decisions are built on reflection.

What if the modern world is taking away our abilty to make good decisions by filling every minute of time we should use for reflection with some form of entertainment, or news, or messages?

A remarkable amount of wisdom arrives after a walk.

After a night’s sleep.

After sitting quietly for a while.

After stepping away from TVs, phones and laptops long enough to hear your own thoughts again.

The problem is, quiet reflection is boring. So you ignore it.

Your phone is always there, tempting you.

Clarity tends to speak softly.

So slow down.

Slow down long enough to let yourself think.

Otherwise you’re letting autopilot decide how your life turns out.

And it rarely makes good choices.

Sleep on important decisions. Take a walk without your phone. Sit in silence.

Give wisdom enough time to catch up with your thoughts.

Because a single rushed decision can shape years.

And a single thoughtful decision can too.

And sometimes that pause becomes one of the smartest choices you ever make…

The world wll try to rush you.

Life will try to pressure you to make thoughtless decisions.

Don’t let it.

Take back control.

Take time to think without distractions.

Take back your life.
